A lake nearly three times as salty as the ocean and the yellowish color alone will convince anyone not to go for a swim here, but the view of the Sierras sure made it look inviting.

(cont.) It wasn’t until September of 1994 that orders were given to protect Mono lake from water diversion. Since then, the lake level has been steadily rising.

I’m always running on “NDN time” or some kind of time that doesn’t quite vibe with everyone else’s schedules. The only thing is...it always seems like whatever time it ends up being, it was the perfect time for something...like this sunset...that we would’ve missed had we left on time Friday. Late for some = just in time for others. For me, that’s just as important. #justexcuses 😉 #stilltruethough #whenotherpeoplearelateistillgetmadeventhoughiknowideserveit 😅 #waiting

GARGANTUA California, winter 2016. As I drove from Sacramento, I left the city behind me for the deserted plains of Mono Lake. The wind was so powerful up there that I could barely open my car's door. But down there lies the absolute silence and this freezing sky, melted by Heaven and Hell. Huge, crushing, beautiful and so dark, even darker than the worst nightmares I could tell. I felt so blessed to feel so tiny staring at this landscape, like I could be in front of Cthulhu himself! ☁️🌫️

When the cloud was just too crazy to not stop and 📸. This one was 30 mins before the sunrise. You can imagine how that cloud would go totally out of control when the sunshine painted it into golden. ———————————————————————— • • • • • #stayandwander #ig_color #modernoutdoors #CCunderfollowed #thecreatorclass #agameof10k #lf10k #lifeofadventure @livefolk #aov5k #artofvisuals #thecreativeshotz #dscvr_mood #dscvr_earth @dscvr.earth #main_vision @soft_vision #rsa_outdoors #eclectic_shotz #depthsofearth #sonyalpha #mountainstones #sonyimages #ig_shotz_feb18 #jaw_dropping_shots #oldtonecollective #hippomag #subjectivelyobjective #weltraumzine #lightzine #gominimalmag #imaginarymagnitude #somewheretravel

Happy Birthday to me! I decided I wanted to celebrate my birthday this year with a road trip up the 395 Hwy. I took this trip last September and while it was gorgeous I really wanted to see it in the snow. The plan was to head up the weekend of my birthday which also fell on presidents day giving us a nice little vacation. My hope was to capture this amazing area covered in snow and leading to some amazing shots. Unlike last year Mother Nature had a different idea in mind for this winter. This years winter was almost non existent with many days in the 80's and without a drop of rain in sight. Fearing a lack luster amount of snow the trip was booked and off we went. My fear soon was realized when arriving there was no snow in slight. Feeling defeated we dredged on in hopes of still being able to capture something amazing. Sadly all we found was lackluster sunrises and sunsets with arctic temperatures. Looking though my shots I can't help feeling disappointed at the results. I didn't get my print worth shot I was looking for. I guess that is part of photography though. You have to keep trying over and over again to achieve the result you want. There is always next year. #monolake #monocounty #hwy395 #route395 #nikond850
