Comment from ACLU of Alabama:

If you can't jump through the right hoops, well then, Alabama says you don't deserve to vote. On Tuesday, the stakes were high and voters were able to jump through those hoops, but it should not be this hard to vote.

This is why voter disenfranchisement is such a vital issue. Statistics show that poor people and people of color are less likely to have flexible work hours or the government IDs that are suddenly being required in so many states to vote. If not for black voters, Moore would have beat Doug Jones. Protecting voting rights protects our republic. Groups like the ACLU are doing work to re-enfranchise voters on the local level where it really matters. Get involved. The bad news is no one is coming to save us. The good news is no one is coming to save us. We get to save ourselves. #dontboovote #nastywoman #blackwomen #peoplepower #voting #votingrights #aclu 👊🏻👊🏼👊🏽👊🏾👊🏿

Comment from ACLU of Alabama:

This election may be over, but our fight for justice and equality is not. This election confirms the power of voters to make a difference by being involved. Our fight goes on for all people living in Alabama, regardless of their race, religion, immigration status, sexual orientation, gender, or political affiliation, and we encourage everyone to stay involved. #ALSen

When I heard Trump on the Access Hollywood tape it was horrible but it didn't shock me, he's a piece of shit, BUT what did shock me was the women who went out and voted for him afterwards, that scarred me... and the women who voted for #roymoore absolutely terrify me but THANKFULLY it did not work this time because real women have some sense!!! Let this be a little light leading into 2018 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 #alabama #bethechange #dontboovote #sorrynotsorry #dontlikethisdontfollowme #fuckyoutrump

Comment from You Had Me At Black:

Doug Jones’ victory in Alabama tonight is historic. Why? Black voter turnout. Black voters made up 30% of the electorate in Alabama today, even more than when Obama ran in 2008. Black voters defeated Roy Moore, and brought Jones this win. . Put an end to the idea that your vote doesn’t count. Black votes matter. Stay informed. Stay woke. VOTE. . If you haven’t seen it already, find @rolandsmartin’s recap video of the election. Nuggets!
