I believe in old school romance where i will portray the moments of love that i wish to live with you... . where i will shed a drop of tear on your shoulder wrapped around my bosom realizing my dream had really come true.. . where i will take you to most highest peaks where the soothing winds can witness the promises that i will utter... . where in your arms i will just take a pause from my conversation and let our love speak as i appreciate silence too.. . where i am a lover who doesnt need only orchids but feel pleasure in accepting your love from a lily too.. "But for those like us, our fate is to face the world as orphans, chasing through the long years the shadows of vanished parents [...] This city, in other words, has come to be my home, and I should not mind if I had to live out the rest of my days here." 🔍 It took me quite a while to finish When We Were Orphans because it had been a hectic week, but I really loved the book! I think it might be my favourite Ishiguro book after Never Let Me Go, so I was surprised to find out that Ishiguro himself, along with a few critics, said this wasn't his best work. It was certainly a little different from his previous works, but once again it deals with unreliable memory and a protagonist bent on looking back at his past. I suppose this book marks a turning point in Ishiguro's writing, since he starts trying to challenge genre boundaries here; When We Were Orphans could be loosely classified as a crime novel, but at the same time the protagonist's insistence on perpetuating his childhood fantasy of finding his missing parents with his childhood friend also means it could be a Bildungsroman? Whatever the genre, I loved it all the same.

Zainab Ansari was a 7 year old Pakistani girl who was on her way to Quran recital when she was found raped and murdered which incited protests and outrage in Kasur, Punjab, Pakistan. Zainab's parents had gone to Saudi Arabia for performing Umrah and she was living with her aunt. On 4 January 2018, while going to a Quran tuition class which was very close to her house, she went missing. Her uncle, lodged a complaint with the Kasur District Police Office. CCTV pictures show her accompanied by an unknown man. Her body was later found in a garbage heap on 9th January. After an autopsy, it was confirmed that she had been raped and strangled to death. The autopsy suggested that she endured captivity and torture before her murder. #justiceforzainab . . . . . . . . #instawriters #life #indianwriters #launchora #poemsofinsta #music #brokenthis #thoughts #instawriter #untwineme #untwineindia #2018 #past #heart #asianwriter #care #spilledink #writerofig #poetrycommunity #justice #mistakes #tomorrow #writerscommunityofinstagram #heartbreak #instapoet #spilledinkpoetry #friend #writingcommunity #beyondfeelings

*CAPTION* I had seen people shouting at them and calling "you low lives", I had seen people ignoring the shrieks of a pregnant woman asking for food to feed her unborn child, I had seen the masks of maturity carried within their innocent minds, I had seen them shivering and struggling to save their lives in cold winter and rainy nights, I had seen that mother feeding her child feeling embrassed because of a shameless man 's eyesight on her bosom's side . . Those innocent face who had suppressed their million dollars worth smile behind the poverty sticken face lines questions us that being sticken by poverty is a crime? and did treating with gentle smile will take our whole of life?? . . So all the books that I'm supposed to be reading for my thesis are finally here. I wasn't sure which Ishiguro books I would be using so I just ordered as many as I could. Now the only books of his I'm missing are Nocturnes and The Unconsoled. I've read 2 Ozeki books already, and I'm looking forward to reading All Over Creation. I ordered a second-hand copy of My Year of Meats from Thriftbooks, which cost me about $10 including shipping, and everything else was from Book Depository. (°ロ°٥) Also, school resumes in a week and I haven't got all the reading I'd like to have done, done because I'm always either distracted or busy helping to keep the house together. I hope my final semester ends with a (very good) bang (๑و•̀ω•́)و

Comment from Fan Wu:

The Korean cover of my novel FEBRUARY FLOWERS, a coming-of-age story set on a university campus in China. Thanks to my Korean translator. * * I really like the Korean cover, a beautiful rendition of the story. The book title comes from a Classical Chinese poem by #Du Mu, 山行,Mountain Travel. * First paragraph of the novel: “After my marriage ends I move to a one-bedroom apartment five blocks from the university where I studied twelve years ago. The grayish building, stuccoed, slanting slightly to the right, is a conversion from a single-family house owned by a grocery store proprietor—now the landlord—and has six units. Mine is on the top but the view is blocked by a forest of half-built commercial high-rises. The landlord wants me to sign a one-year lease, but I have only agreed to a six-month term. I know her apartment building, like other shabby two- to three-story buildings in the neighborhood, will be torn down and replaced by another high-rise in less than a year.”
