Everywhere you look these days you will see various different dieting techniques being employed by people and promoted in magazines or on social media. . It can all become quite daunting, overwhelming and confusing, especially if you are just getting into fitness and starting to adopt a healthier lifestyle, you may be unsure of which path you should be taking to make the very most of your fat loss efforts and I wouldn’t blame you either with the amount of information and also misinformation being put out there and lots of self professed ‘experts’ or companies trying to sell a product / lifestyle to you. . There are so many ‘fashionable’ or ’trendy’ approaches to dieting that people can quickly forget the basics and what is actually necessary for fat loss to occur and there is absolutely nothing fancy about it truth be told… . Low carb, ketogenic, low fat, weight watchers, intermittent fasting, paleo etc are just some of the popular approaches you may have heard of when it comes to fat loss. . What I want to make you realise today is that there is no ‘magic diet’ and that all of these approaches have something in common in order for fat loss to occur and that is that they all revolve around the same basic principal of creating a caloric deficit. . People can become obsessed searching for the latest and greatest method that promises to melt fat and it is not uncommon to see people hopping from one plan to another in search of faster results and spinning their wheels as a result of not eating in a sufficient calorie deficit for long enough to yield results. . Fat loss takes time, it is not a linear process and some weeks will yield better results than others, that’s just the way it is and always will be but if you consistently eat in a caloric deficit for long enough and trust the process you will get the results! . CREATIVITY‼️ I often forget how to get creative. This is an exercise I remember doing over a year ago. It’s funny, I walked over to the pulley on leg day and just stood there like my body was wanting me to do something else besides my typical leg stuff. Why is creativity important? Your muscles adapt so quickly to movements and demand so it’s essential to try different ways of tagging the muscle to work. If you don’t, you’re muscles will not respond to the demand and give you results as quickly, so this is why changing your exercises and your workout formats is a BIG DEAL! For example I replaced my dumbbell deadlifts with this little diddy and found a lot of other muscles being forced to fire in order to keep my fin and balance. This movement keeps constant tension on the hammys and glutes and also recruits the core and calves to stabilize (bonus!).
