I am currently on break for 1 month. I just finished up my acute care rotation and my next rotation is in outpatient orthopedics! . I had the honor of working out with my dad in the video . How many times a day do you get up from a chair? At least 50 times in one day? Squatting is one of the most functional exercises because we constantly do it whether getting up from a chair or from a toilet. Regardless of your activity level it is imperative to focus on exercises that carryover into your daily life. Squats can always be modified to fit the patient. . Box squat with step: 1.bring hips back to sit 2 lean forward to stand 3. step in any direction. The extra step will challenge balance after getting up. . Make sure to follow on facebook. ⚔️SHOULDER BLADES . The 'core' stabilizes the low back which enables you to move your hips and legs freely without much difficulty . The upper body has an equivalent mechanism which comes from the shoulder blades, constantly working as the base of support (like the core) to stabilize arm movement . However, unlike the core, the shoulder blades need adequate mobility, more specifically, CONTROLLED mobility. In order for you to have control of the shoulder blades, you must be aware of where they are in space . Most people with shoulder pain (typically in the front of the shoulder) have no clue where their shoulder blades are positioned . One of the main reasons they have pain in their shoulder is because of this exact lack of awareness and/or mobility and/or strength in the shoulder blade(s). This becomes particularly important when lifting things overhead .
