Going to the gym is a bit of a daunting experience. There are people in impeccable shape that make everything look so easy, when I don't even know how to work most of the machines 😭😂 But today I went with my friend that has a membership and actually enjoyed it. We did arms, the stairs, and ran on the treadmill. I ran more on that than I do when I'm running outside so I feel great now..... and the pain is slowly setting in 😝. #hellthytohealthy #bodypositive #wecandoit #motivation #transformation #fitfam #fitfamily #loveyourself #selflove #healthy #change #lifeisbeautiful #motivation #fitness #fatloss #selflove #run #running #health #love #struggle #couchto5k #5k #run #running #hot #goals

Rejecting the ego during training might be one of the most difficult aspects to sticking to a smart training plan. Comparing myself to other's, wanting to run too fast in every run, feeling as if I am not where you should be. Those thoughts are the hardest to overcome. Today, I wanted to run faster. But I knew if I did my body would make me pay for it. I took 6 months off running, and even though I've been building my base with slow miles since late may, my legs are still not where my cardiovascular system is. My heart lets me run fast, but although I am capable of running faster, the stress it puts on my legs is still too much for them. And honestly, slowing down is a difficult thing to do especially during a track workout. It takes discipline. Today I was supposed to run 1 mi. at a slow 10:30 pace, 1 mi. at a 9:45, 1 mi. at 9:00, then back up 1 mi. at 9:45, and 1 cool down mile at 10:30. But I failed. I ran too fast, I was undisciplined, and now I'll spend the evening icing and elevating my legs in hopes that the bothersome shinsplints that stopped my buildup for more than two weeks, don't come back. So in short, today's training was a failure. Not because I didn't push it, but because I didn't listen to myself, and my training plan. And that's the best way to get injured, and miss the starting line this October. #Run #FindPeace #OneMileAtATime #ChicagoMarathon #TrainHardRaceHarder #TrainRaceBeer #DoEpicShit #RunTall #RunHappy #NobodyCaresWorkHarder #KeepHammering #BeatYesterday #ChooseToRun #ChicagoMarathon2017 #CLEANSPORTCO #RunYourWorld #FindYourPeace #RunYourWorld #ChasingPRs #RunisLife #XtremeRunnersLife #Running #TrainHardRaceHarder #MoMiles #MarathonTraining #TrainSmart

I remember exactly where I was when realized that it was the miles and the road that was sorting out all my thoughts and anxieties. I was sitting in therapy telling her about how whole I felt when I was running. I was explaining to her that it was the place I felt most comfortable all by myself because even though I was by myself I never felt alone. And that made me feel strong. She looked at me and then looked at the door. She said then I think you have cured yourself. That was the last day I paid for therapy. I left her office that day and went for another run. #rescue #ultrarunner #running #runforlife #bevulnerable #wearehuman
