Who doesn’t love a yummy steak sandwich? 😋😍 Tonight we grilled delicious grass fed steak to make this bomb sandwich which has mashed up avocado 🥑, sautéed bell peppers/mushrooms/onions, and spinach on sourdough toast. Fun fact: this meal has zero added sugar, just the way we like it 💪🏻🎉 Our favorite sources of protein are chicken and fish but every once in awhile we like to switch it up and eat grass fed steak! We choose to purchase steak that is only grass fed because of the higher amounts of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. When cows are only fed grass and their mothers milk, the meat is a lot leaner and has 50% more omega 3s than standard meat. Additionally, grass fed meat has a beneficial fat called conjugated linoleic acid which is associated with improved immunity and inflammation! For our rolls tonight we used seaweed, sushi rice 🍚, wild Dungeness crab 🦀, cucumbers 🥒, carrots 🥕, and avocado 🥑. Wild Dungeness crab is an excellent source of protein and is rich in zinc, calcium and magnesium. It’s very important to maintain healthy magnesium levels because magnesium promotes healthy blood pressure and cardiovascular health, mental health, and improves sleep quality. Having a deficiency in magnesium can lead to muscle cramps, joint pain, headaches, depression/anxiety, and acid reflux. Now we need to get back to eating our Sushi! Been on a serious cacao kick lately and we don’t see it stopping 😎🤷🏼‍♀️ Last night we prepared overnight oats by combining 1/2 cup oats, 1 tbsp chia seeds, cinnamon, 1 tbsp cacao powder, and 3/4 cup almond milk. So simple and easy 💃🏼😋 We recently made a goal to reduce our daily intake of added sugars. We aren’t doing this as a way to diet or a way to lose weight. Instead, our purpose is to learn to be more mindful of the reality of added sugars in our food industry. Holy moly this might of been one of the best meals we have ever cooked thanks to @restoring_radiance 😍 We made this entire meal from scratch (besides the pita bread 😜)! Our favorite part was for sure the homemade tzatziki sauce which has dill, cucumber, full fat yogurt, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. We choose whole milk Greek yogurt over nonfat Greek yogurt because of the increased nutrient density. Full fat yogurt is higher in protein and contains satiating fat. This morning we had the best brunch, and the best part is we didn’t even have to leave the house 🙃👍🏻 We made a frittata using eggs, asparagus, spinach, tomato, onion, salt and pepper and sprinkled with a little Parmesan cheese 🍳😋 Making a frittata is so easy and is a great change from the usual fried eggs! We love that you can add virtually anything to it too.
